Born in Newcastle in 1975, Kirrily Hammond graduated with Honours from the Canberra School of Art in 1997 and completed Masters at the University of Melbourne in 2002. Kirrily has been exhibiting her work in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne since 1995, including the staging of a solo exhibition at Warrnambool Art Gallery, Victoria, in 2000. Kirrily was the recipient of the Telstra Traveling Scholarship award, which allowed her to undertake part of her undergraduate study at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland, and has also travelled extensively in Europe and America. She was a Graduate in Residence at the Canberra School of Art in 2000 and also undertook a printmaking residency with Megalo Access Arts in 2000/2001. More recently, Kirrily was employed in the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and in 2005 and was awarded a Harold Wright Scholarship to study the print & drawing collection at the British Museum in London. Kirrily's work is held in numerous private collections as well as the University of Wollongong, Australian National University and Warrnambool Art Gallery collections.
