Recent graduate (with honours) from the prestigious Australian National University's Canberra School of Art, Jessica Herrington is one of those rare creatures in the art world. Her multidisciplinary approach to her practise singles her out as a talent on the rise, with leanings toward undoubtabley on of the greatest artists of our time, Louise Bourgeouis.

Not only is Herrington a talented abstract painter, her photographic self portrait, 'Awkward Self' won this year's innaugural $10,000 National Youth Self-Portrait Prize.

It is not often that I come across an artist with the ability to be technically and conceptually strong in their work across painting, photography, sculpture and printmaking.

Jessica Herrington's first Sydney solo show at the gallery in mid 2009 is definatley one to watch out for.
